The Simbed Team

Andy and his father, David, began Simbed in 2009 and since then we have developed, improved and grown. We have learnt so much along the way and have used this knowledge to make the bedding the best it can be. We have evolved every aspect of Simbed from the machinery used to produce it, to the bags we put it in.

When you buy Simbed you are dealing directly with the people who have grown and harvested the straw, milled and dust extracted it, and baled it into the Simbed bags.

We are a small farming family from Chesterfield who all work together to produce and sell Simbed.

Andy works together with Pete (Andy’s uncle) and John (his life-long friend, and wife’s cousin) in the production of Simbed from drilling the seed to grow the oilseed rape through to the delivery of Simbed to our customers.

David, sadly, passed away in 2024 and he is very much missed by the Simbed team and our customers. Delivering to his customers was the highlight of his days, he could never do enough for them.

Wendy (Andy’s mum) plays a very important role in the farm by keeping the men topped up with tea, cake and biscuits to help them work hard. Catherine, Andy’s wife, takes responsibility for the office side of Simbed, and will be the first person you speak to when you contact Simbed.

If you visit our farm you are sure to meet our very loud, friendly labrador, Bailey, who will be very excited to see you. Of course we can’t forget to mention Jack, Hayley and Sophie, who are Andrew and Catherine’s children, and the future of Simbed.
